The displayed path of the vdrive web interface consists of links to each ancestor directory. This makes the "parent directory" link redundant.

ok, seems reasonable, I'd accept a patch that removes this. Look at source:src/allmydata/web/directory.xhtml and remove the tag that talks about parent directories.
